About the artist
Immersion in Tradition
Shogo Yoshii’s artistic foundation was built through years of deep immersion in Japanese folk music traditions across rural Japan, learning from master musicians in remote villages. He is a Japanese composer, performer, and artistic director.
Kodō Mastery
As a former member of the world-renowned Kodō taiko ensemble, Yoshii mastered the demanding art of traditional Japanese percussion, honing both technical excellence and spiritual discipline. He is a Master of traditional instruments like taiko, shinobue(bamboo flute), kokyu(bowed string instrument).

Experience the Power of Taiko in Eindhoven
Join a special Taiko ensemble workshop in Eindhoven with guest teacher Shogo Yoshii. During this 3‑hour session, participants will explore rhythm, timing, and the powerful energy of playing together as a Taiko ensemble.
What You Will Experience
During this workshop, you will:
- Learn a brand‑new Taiko piece created specifically for this event
- Explore ensemble playing and group coordination
- Develop rhythm, timing, and musical expression
- Experience the energy of playing together as a group
Title and content of the piece will be announced soon.
The piece will include parts suitable for both beginner and intermediate players.

The workshop takes place in the creative district of Strijp‑S, easily accessible by car, bike, and public transport.
Parking
Streeside Parking along Strijp-S is available for €3,40 per hour (first 30 mins free & after 21:00 free), or at the Torenallee parking lot and along the Philitelaan.
Parking garage “Om de Hoek” with over 400 parking spaces is just a 200m walk away. Parking will cost around € 2,50 per hour.
Free parking is possible in the Marie Jungiusstraat, just a 10-minute walk, in the Limbeek-Zuid quarter.
Public Transportation
The nearest stop is “Strijp S” and the following bus lines have routes that stop here: bus 401, 402, 403, and 9.
We recommend allowing a few extra minutes to find parking and arrive relaxed before the workshop starts.
